September 1st in our house means the "autumn leaves" scented candles are lit, all-things-pumpkin themed can be found throughout each room and fresh baked apple cider donuts are always on hand. Yet as much as I love this time of year and as "basic" as I tend to be, anything pumpkin flavored is not for me. I could totally do without the pumpkin spiced lattes or pumpkin pie for dessert.
It has always been a dream of mine to move somewhere where it's sunshine and 65° all year round, even though I don't think it really exists. As a New England girl, I have grown to love all seasons each for their own reasons but fall certainly takes the cake if I had to choose just one. This time of year just does something for my soul, I swear. To me, there is nothing better than waking up with the windows open, to the birds chirping, sun shining, the crisp, cool air to put on a cozy sweater and leggings to get the day started. Sitting outside with my iced coffee listening to the quiet even just for a minute (because mom life, and quiet time doesn't ever exist anymore) is such a refresher to my mood. Add a family day of apple picking or pumpkin picking ending the night with a fire and cold drink, man that is my definition of the perfect day.
Fall decor is the perfect way to make any space a bit more cozy. With a pop of orange, maroon, navy or mustard colors, it provides the best accents with almost any other furnishings. I try my hardest to stay out of Michaels® this time of year, otherwise my house would look like a giant, indoor fall festival and I don't think my husband or bank account would enjoy it as much.
